Does God Want Me To Be Happy?

Life, for many people, is a unending pursuit of happiness. The search usually leads them in search of pleasure and prosperity. Is this what happiness is all about? Does God even want us to be happy in this life? Perhaps that seems like an odd question but it’s one that many people ask and many more make false assumptions about. Some attempt to justify sinful decisions by claiming that God wants us all to be happy. After all, if something makes us happy then why would God see anything wrong with it? Yes, God wants us to be happy. But is this what the Lord means by happiness? In this broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we look at God’s definition and prescription for happiness.

Last Of All God Sent His Son

How many opportunities has God graciously given you to repent? The long history of humankind is the story of God unfolding His plan to redeem sinful man through the channel of those who were called His people. They were given more advantage and opportunity than any other people on earth. However, Jesus vividly illustrated how the religious leaders of His day rebuffed the overtures of God. In His riveting parable, He reveals Himself as God’s greatest appeal to man and the consequences of turning Him away.

The Borderland

One of the scribes who questioned Jesus in the final week of His earthly ministry stands apart from the others. While most of those pious religious leaders querying the Christ that day were hard of heart and a great distance from God, this man impressed the Lord. Jesus said, “Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.” What brought him so near? Many are in the same condition today. In this broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we learn about those who dwell in “the borderland” of the kingdom.

The High Cost Of A Free Gift

Can something that is free cost us something at the same time? Eternal life is the gift of God given by His grace. We have not and will never do anything to merit His favor and the salvation He provides. There is a paradox for us to consider though: this gift does not come without cost. In the broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we learn about the high cost of providing and receiving the gift of God.

Was Your Conversion Genuine?

Jesus once said that in order to enter His kingdom, we must be converted. What does it mean to be converted? Have you been truly converted and how can you know for sure? The New Testament teaches that we can know and that there is a divine witness to the fact. In this broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we pose the question for personal introspection: Was Your Conversion Genuine?

God’s Bookkeeping

When the Apostle John was transported by the Spirit to the judgment before the Great White Throne, he beheld books being opened, including but not limited to The Book of Life. In searching the scriptures, we find several mentions of books being written or recorded, not only on earth, but in heaven. These books contain information about you. In this broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we are reminded of how meticulous God’s Bookkeeping is.

Truth Is Fallen In The Street

The prophet Isaiah described the condition of the nation by personifying truth as one that had fallen in the street and was left behind by the people. While nearly everyone says they desire only the truth, the truth is elusive to many. This is not because of the nature of truth but the disposition of those encountering it. In the broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we look at four demands of truth that keep many from ever finding and embracing it.

Have You Obeyed The Gospel?

The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ and his redemptive work. It is a message to be preached, heard, and believed. But did you know that it must also be obeyed? In today’s broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we explore this bible phrase and condition of receiving salvation. We learn that obeying the gospel means more than mentally believing the gospel. Have you obeyed the gospel?

The Forgiving Father

Have you done things you are convinced God would never forgive you for? Do you see God as a vengeful deity, treasuring up His wrath to pour out upon you in due time? The Bible warns us in Romans 11 to behold the ‘severity of God’. God is holy and just and sin must be punished either on the back of Jesus Christ at Calvary or in our everlasting separation from God in hell. This leaves us at a crossroads in life: to submit to Jesus in obedient faith and thus allow Him to be our Savior, or reject Him and face the terror of God’s eternal wrath. God, however, is also portrayed in His word as a Forgiving Father! His love for the sinner is as great as His hatred of sin. In this broadcast of Let the Bible Speak, we see the portrait the Bible draws of The Forgiving Father and learn what it means and why it is crucial that we receive the forgiveness of our sins from God.
